My mate is looking at that one. Anyone in QLD knows it? Any idea of a good offer to make on it?

Are you sick of this one already?

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/yanchep/sail-boats/farrier-tt720/1011849930

Knock it off and you could make a big profit on this one.

www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/campania/sail-boats/tt-680-farrier-trimaran/1011176421

As far as this one goes:-

www.boatsales.com.au/DesktopDefault.aspx?R=13727479&Silo=Stock&tabid=3012699&Vertical=Boat&Ridx=73&eapi=2

If your mate pays me the right money, I'll survey it for him. However, it is on the east coast and he, I assume, is on the west coast. It is not cheap either, so why would he even consider it??

He could buy my S&S 34 for less money than that.

On the west coast the market is very sad lot of overpriced crap.
My mate has a floating caravan..... Court 650, he got it for next to nothing and he still want roomy he also want a bit of performance.
I am more looking at that type of boat.

Saying "What is an S&S34?" is like saying, "Who is Jimmy Hendrix?"

Famous design. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%26S_34

Oh, and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_hendrix - just in case.

Not many S&S 34 this side of the Island looks allright shame it is a fixed keel job, you should come and see the price of mooring in WA................ If you are lucky to get one it is about 15k to buy in the Swan with a few bridges to go under (drop mast job) In a marina expect to pay 5k minimum a year.
I have a dry stand and it is close to the ramp so I can keep the mast up.

What!!!! Perth is where 100, of the 200 afloat world wide, were built.

Here is mine. The very first S&S 34 to come to Australia. If it doesn't sell soon I might donate it to the Maritime Museum.

Dont know where your sailing felix, but the S&S 34's are everywhere you look on the river on race days. There is a nice cole 32's going cheap at South of Perth YC. There's always half a dozen S&S 34's available across Perth. Sellers who are dreamin and genuine bargains on any given day - just got to keep looking.

I do like the look of that Sonata. Pity its in Tassie

Club Membership fees about 1100 + pen about 1500 for a little yacht like that.

If I were looking in that size range and price, I'd be looking at the spacesailor 22/24 or 27. Anywhere from 9K to 27K depending on condition & fruit.
Or what about an S80 (15K-30K - the dodgem cars of the swan river.)

Both these boats have excellent fleets in Perth and therefore you'll get parts as well as expertise whether it be repairs or coaching.

That's just crazy talk, I can't believe you can not sell that yacht. It's the end of the world as we know it!

The main bulkhead needs that veneer ripped off and replaced with teak ply and trim, hour or two with a scraper on the rest of the teak interior and you have one of the nicest layout yachts going.
LooseChange get your arse into gear and buy this boat, save some else from getting in the **** around here!

People are willing to part with $22,000 for a Sonata trailer sailer!

Believe it. Nobody wants to do the work. So I will do it myself, by which time it will very doubtful that I would be able to part with it.

As I have the last of the Swarbrick & Swarbrick built S&S34s, it looks like Cisco and I have the oldest and youngest original build S&S34s.
The three new ones built by Cottesloe Yachts used the original hull moulds but are a different construction and fit out.

If I had the time to work on a boat and still go to work I would steal this in a flash, alas, time is my biggest enemy and so the next boat has to be one that's all ready to go without having to do anything to it before I can use it.

Sorry Ramona, I know you would like some new neighbours up the creek.

Dohhhhhhhhhhhh me! I did not realise that S&S stand for Swarbrick! Had a Pinacle and I still miss her!
Space sailors are nice floating caravans.............. I have a TT720 farrier if I sell I want something that moves fast, I do a fair bit of club racing (every Saturday), also I hate river sailing, it is like a busy freeway!
I am looking for a sport boat on trailer with retractable or pivot daggerboard, I want to have a bit of accomodation to be able to go to Rotto and do a beach moring at the front of the pub!

My club is $300 and the hard stand $ 500, I am in Yanchep, Two Rocks marina is about 3k a year plus all the bird shiit removal, antifouling and so on! Had a 40 footer in Mangle bay, clean the bird crap got to me at the end! I like trailer sailers!

Well that is a very interesting snippet of information John.

Does that mean that thee and me now share the full weight of responsibility for upholding the Tradition of S&S 34s in Australia??

Tsch, tsch!! The work for the wicked never ends does it??

In the interests of un-buggering you, the S&S 34 is a yacht designed by the Sparkman & Stephens company of New York City in the U.S.A.. Now, some of these S&S 34's were built in Perth by a company called Swarbrick & Swarbrick and at no time ever were Swarbrick & Swarbrick referred to as S&S, that is a distinction reserved purely for Sparkman & Stephens of New York City. There ya go, all clear as mud now and you are ofishially un-buggered.

Gee, I created a bit of a fracas there.

To make it even more confusing Glen Swarbrick still operates under the Swarbrick and Swarbrick name despite him being the only Swarbrick. His dad and uncle were the original Swarbrick and Swarbrick and he, and a cousin I think, also worked for them building the S&S34s.

Mike Finn I believe is the driving force behind the new generation of S&S 34s. The company is Cottesloe Yachts.

Well over $100k for a hull and deck and I believe they only build to order.

$158000.00 Was the last price I read ..... in 2010, I believe the upper end of the scale was $360000.00 for a turnkey.

Last price I heard for hull and deck was $165,000.

With the cost of materials and labour today and an acceptable profit margin for the business, it is probably a fair price.

Mike Finn owns the moulds and Cottesloe Yachts. The first three new ones were built at Glenn's place in Henderson. I spent a day there in 2008 with Glenn and the owner of hull 3. I do not know if Glen is still involved but no further boats have come out of the moulds since No 3.
I suspect the figures quoted are about right, they are individually made and cannot be compared to a production boat. Think more in line with Bluewater or even Hallberg-Rassy. The hulls are vacuum infused, less resin, lighter by a few 100 kilos and no aeration in the glass so stronger. No 3, Blondie, had a very high quality fit out for both racing and cruising.
Blondie has blitzed the WA offshore series for the last season or two. Not bad for Olin's 45 year old design.
