I live in Norway and have recently started rebuilding of a 40-foot ferro cement sailing yacht, Colin Archer design. The wooden deck is bad and I will rebuild with ferro cement deck. I do need to discuss techical details with anyone, especially construction of beams and best way of connecting new deck to old hull. I will be pleased if anyone that have constructed and built their own boat can shear some knowledge with me. Thanks.

I had an RORC39 ferro boat and never had problems with it. It sailed well, was bone dry and quiet downstairs and had enough weight that even big seas didnt knock it. But I was always a bit anxious about the ferro since a number of them just "disappeared" at sea with all crew lost including one just like mine. ie. They had no warning. I often wondered if the boat would suddenly break, but it didnt. I think the biggest important issue is to make sure the steel reinforcing is rust proof and as dense as it should be. If it is it should be at least as robust as a timber boat.
