Currently I have a 5hp 2 stroke about 6 years old.
All it is used for is about 100m shore to mored boat for 2 people so about 160kg with gear.
I would like a lighter 4 stroke and the Honda 2.3 was suggested.
Rubber ducky is a Hyfield 2.7m in very good condition.
What do people think and recommend if buying new?

Check the weights, is the fourstroke really any or much lighter than the two stroke?

Yes, seems the 2.3 Honda 4 stroke is about half the weight of my 5hp Yamaha 2 stroke.
So after suggestions for a light reliable 4 stroke.

I had a Honda 2.3hp for about three months then offloaded it on Gumtree and found a nice Yamaha 5hp, 2 stroke and it was a great trade up.
Some people love the Honda, but I found it noisy, slow, and even when left on the correct side for transport, got oil in the cylinder.

I have also got an old Yamaha 2hp two stroke in the shed, the old always in gear, slide throttle one. Bullet proof and it would be lighter than a Honda. A great tender motor, doesn't get flushed and it thrives on abuse.
I personally think a low hour Yamaha two stroke is the way to go.
