Welcome,
I'd say you want to be around Caloundra an hour or so before low tide, locals might have a better plan. Keep an eye out for the big ships, surprising how quick they can catch you out there.
I had one of my most memorable sails from Mooloolaba to Peel Island, incoming tide, solid NE'er, tucked in a bit behind Moreton Is in the flat water, was absolutely flying down the Bay.

Use Beacon to Beacon and stay on the recommended tracks.

Can't go wrong then!!

Take the scenic route
Mooloolaba via North East Channel (20 miles to NE1)then
North East Channel to Sandhills (23 miles) to Peel or Myora for the night
Grab the flood tide but at 1.6m go Caniapa Channel
Or
Mooloolaba via Bribie and anchor behind Mud or St Helena for the night
Next day down the Main Channel just needing a bit if tide at the cross over.
No need to go into the flesh pots!
By the time you go into Manly you are better to keep going to Cleveland West and go to the pub for dinner.

Thanks Lydia, so i'd need to be at Caloundra just before the low tide to flood South. Then day two leave Peel on the high tide?
Does that sound OK?
Many thanks

That would mean leaving Mooloolaba on the ebb tide, close to low tide.
depending on your draft, bar depth and sea state that might not be a good idea.
It general bars are best crossed on a flood tide.I would give priority to the bar crossing, over the tide benefit on the trip into Moreton bay.....

Here is a old Mooloolaba to Brisbane trick.
In a big southerly push the ebb tide and not ride the flood.
You will work out why!
