Anyone Know any great books that would be helpful in learning to sail a keelboat. As in a Top Hat 25 or S&S 34 that can give some practical pointers that way I don't have to keep asking. Thousands of Questions.

Mick

There's some great online books by Steve and Linda dashew.
Marine weathers handbook
Surviving the storm.
And another one I have that I cannot recall offhand and my ipads flat.
Someone posted links on sea breeze to download these.
They also wrote "cruising encyclopedia " 1000 pages.
Surving the storm is full of actual accounts from sailors . Rescuers, etc from Sydney to Hobart 98 tragedy and some severe storms between south South Pacific and nz
I read these books cover to cover and the helped me considerably.

Annapolis book of seamanship

Tom Cumliffe's books on Day Skipper / yachtmaster

For basic how to do it the standard way instruction, the RYA training guides are good.

You can pick up tips and ideas from any good sailing book - often found 2nd hand or in marina boat exchanges.

Find a library that has back copies of the UK yachting Monthly and/or Practical Boat Owner - sometimes well written & illustrated articles on particular skills are easier to digest than a whole book.

We found taking the various RYA courses a good way to learn & chatting with instructors & other students very interesting - each to his own. Although, to be fair, I would not wish the Yachtmaster theory exam on anyone!

Cheers
