We will be sailing out 80ft steel ketch from Mackay-Fiji end of March.
Skipper needed for journey and possible stay on in Fiji and Nomeua. I have been living on board for the last three years in charge of all duties to keep the ship running and well maintained.(family boat) We can sleep eleven in six cabins
shower toilet fwd and aft, two generators, air con, large walk in fridges fwd and aft, 4.5m rubber duck. We are in qld survey and all safety gear is new and upto date including new life raft. Very solid ship. Only people with ocean crossing exp
on boats larger than 60 ft would be considered. I have alot of knowledge running the ship and would make agreat team with the right person. Couples may apply.
Thanks, Darren

Not too many people with ocean going experience on vessels over 60ft sitting about on their arses. If they have a master class 5 they are in great demand.

Your message alludes to your wanting this skipper to do the job gratis. Don't think you're gonna find anyone. Reckon if you've got an 80footer that's in survey and good nic, then you've got the money to pay for services rendered.

i know some one but hes 1k per ft per annum. brilliant at what he does and knows. why not do it yourself? seems youve got the vessel, and not that far really. not sure about april though with the odd low poking its head out, although late. nothing wrong in heading south to coffs harbour during march with the odd northerly from mackay, then heading the rhumb line to fiji from there with the trades less on the nose.
an adult crew of 4 would be quite comfy.

I think dazla regrets ever posting his post...................................really don't think he'll get a skipper - un/paid on this forum.
Holy hell, I wouldn't been seen dead on this crazy boat.

I am looking for skipper for Journey in March as posted. Master five not needed as we will be leaving Australian waters. I currently have four people with ocean crossing exp happy to help they all live in the same marina as myself. I would say less than on third of master fives would be able to do the job. No wise cracks positive and helpful replies only thanks.

Yeah!!! There are a heap of people getting around with tickets whose only sea time was as kitchen bitches or dive instructors.

They think a clove hitch is something used to relieve tooth ache.

If as you say:- "I currently have four people with ocean crossing exp happy to help they all live in the same marina as myself.", why would you be fishing around here??

Just looking around keeping options open. This web site does not look like the place to find people. I will go with the group that i have. Thanks for your replies.
