Hi We are moving to Tassie and going to ship our Aquarius 23 down there , anyone around that area?

Also we are selling the other Aquarius 23 , can't ship two there. So selling it at a bargain price just to get rid of it. Anyone after a cheap boat?
Cheers Lorri

Hi Lorri

We live just up the river at Port Huon and the sailing here is fantastic

People say that we have some of the best cruising waters in Australia and the scenery is amazing and the waters are relatively deserted and there is normally shelter available if the weather changes for the worst

I sail my Sailmaster all year round with some beautiful winter days but sometimes in winter there is a lack of breeze

If you are interested in doing some racing the season starts around september and finishes in April

Sailing is fairly popular pastime on the Huon with a lot of history of sailing in the area

If you are interested in joining a club I sail with the Huon Yacht Club huonyachtclub.org but there is a club at Cygnet as well http://www.cygnetsailing.org.au/Port_Cygnet_Sailing_Club/Welcome.html

The weather down here changes quickly so you need to be mindful of the forcast before you head off

With a trailer sailer you will have plenty of options of where to sail and the locals in the Huon are a friendly lot

Summer down here is great as it is daylight until 9pm so there is plenty of daylight to sail in

Do you have somewhere to live or are you still looking

I don't know if you saw this earlier thread of mine that shows some of the boats in the area www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Sailing/General/Boats-of-Port-Huon/?SearchTerms=Huon

Regards Don

Hi Don , sounds great, just looked at Port Huon. Looks very nice we didn't look there when we went over last time. Are going this March. So will have a look around. We have bought 5acres at Cradoc. Do you know the cost for a moorings at Port Huon, will join the club when we get over,

Hi Lorri

Occasionally a existing mooring will be for sale here and they normally sell for $1000-$1500 with the annual registration cost being approx $70

If there are no existing moorings available there is still room to put in a new mooring and I think this would be around $2000

Port huon is a good place to keep a boat because about half a mile further up the river it shallows out apart from a channel so if you are further up the river from here you normally have to motor down to here before you can sail

To drive from Cradoc to Port Huon it takes about 25 mins but follows the river all the way so it is a nice drive

Regards Don
