Hello,
Its 100kms and was just wondering if there is anything i need to look out for?
Any tips on doing this successfuly would be appreciated.
Thanks
From what I have been told your prevailing winds over there (I am in Qld) are 30 knots South West so I suggest you look out for lee shores.
Tips:-
1. Get the previous owner to take you out on a full day trip before you pays your money.
2. Spend two or three days on board doing short trips out and in to familiarize your self with the yacht. Do a man overboard exercise. Do a heaving to exercise. Do a reefing down exercise.
3. Plan the voyage. Get up to date charts for the area. Are there any safe anchorages between point of departure and arrival?? Once you go offshore on a yacht, you are literally taking your life in your hands.
4. Get someone who has done the trip before to do it with you.
5. THINK!!!
