Everybody still sails or goes boating in Queensland during the so called "cyclone season". Everybody (with half a brain or more) also has a cyclone plan. It may be that they sail south for the season or they work out where their bolt hole will be.
There are plenty of marinas along the Queensland coast, a few navigable rivers and a few harbours.
I would regard the marina at Rosslyn Bay, Yeppoon as a fairly safe place to have a vessel during a cyclone even if it passed right over the top of it. The configuration of the sea walls there does not allow a swell to bear onto the berths directly. However that marina is chocka block full and you may have trouble getting a berth there. Supply and Demand, the price is high as it is anywhere north of there.
During a cyclone I would much rather my yacht being in the water than on the hard. Less windage.
It all depends on how valuable your yacht is to you intrinsically (Do you talk to her and make love to her? Would you brave the Perfect Storm on and with her?) and how good an insurance policy you have.

Decision time! Fish or cut bait.
