Hi
Has anyone used the thuraya sat phone sleeve?
It might be an alternative to buying a sat phone
Does the aerial work as well as a dedicated sat phone
Thanks

I have got a Satsleeve.
I have used in East Coast Australia inc Queensland up as far as Whitsundays, Tasmania, Bass Strait, and in Scotland and Ireland.
For phone it works fine, for texting its excellent, but I have had no luck with data. I have found that it is not much good in that department.
Mine may be faulty but I have pretty much given up on data at the moment.
But a good alternative to a dedicated separate sat phone IMHO.

Thanks for that
What network are you using?
I was thinking of getting one for sailing in the pacific. But if you can't get data it isn't much good as I won't be able to get weather updates

I am on Thuraya.
And yes I agree it does seem wrong about data.
I must really try to figure out what is wrong there, I have checked all settings etc and they seem correct.
I will talk to the supplier again and Thuraya and see if I can get it working and report back.
