Sound great but too short notice

Warrina III is at Bayview and it world take 1.5 hours (min) to get to refuge bay. Anyway I've (only just now) organised to take my father (99) to a specialist. He was going to drive himself.

Is he FAD still out there or has it been removed for annual maintenance. Last year we headed ther only to fing they had removed it so in future we will google and check

Maybe next Sausage sizzle!!!

Sorry it was short notice. Just got back. Sausages delicious and no beer left . Wind very light to none though, Broken Bay was a mill pond covered with smoke haze but beautiful sunny day. Hawkesburys got a pretty decent out flowing current we discovered. Maybe next Sunday?

Sorry my next day on-board will most likely be Sunday 22nd May as I'm off next week (for work) to WA. We really want to get out to the FAD (if it hasn't been removed for (winter) maintenance. It's hard to plan this far ahead as winter is nearly upon us.

Hi Trek.
We were there at 1245hrs and didn't see anyone who might have been on a Martzcraft 35 - Refuge Bay next to America Bay right?
Although the sausages were nice and the water fall refreshing, it was more of a sausage fizzle than a sausage sizzle!
Maybe next time...

Well i hope you had a nice time Now and Zen and that you enjoy the pittwater/Hawkesbury area. Its really a lovely spot. Around the corner from America bay heading west is Hallets beach. Nice. Alot of Bream. Awoke there one day to see a dolphin off the stern with a big bream in his mouth! Weekends can be busy though with massive stink boats and oodles of kids. might be ok now though that its cooler. Enjoy@! PS Whitehorse Beach in Flint and Steel Bay has some old WW2 gun turretts up the hill a bit off a walking track. Look out for the white eagles around there too!

Sorry NowandZen, my bungle. When you said the sausages were defrosting and I saw your location as WA I thought you were kidding! We were there a bit earlier and since none else said they were coming went off down the bay and wound up at White Horse Beach. At White Horse Beach I tried to go on Seabreeze to see if anyone was around but close into the beach there was no Amaysim (Optus) coverage. I saw a double ender go past if that was you. Weekdays are better for a meet up for us because of no crowding but I guess Weekends are a necessity for many.

We didn't make it Friday, but spent lunch time on Saturday in America's, then the evening off Patonga. Great band playing at the pub, so no need for our music.

We wont be around next weekend, will be down at Jervis Bay instead.

Hi EC is there any trick to getting into Patonga? How far off shore do you anchor is there moorings there also? I was under the impression it was shallow at Patonga.

North of the wharf is quite shallow amoungst the private moorings, as they are mainly trawlers. There are 3 club moorings south of the wharf, with plenty of room around them to anchor in a holding of sand and mud. You will need to keep well clear of the wharf tho, both ferries and trawlers use it and will let you know if you are in the way.

During the day the moorings are taken as everyone comes over for fish n chips, but at night they are usually empty. That is because if there is any swell coming into Broken Bay, you will roll. Last Saturday night was a light westerly with almost no swell, so it was quite comfortable. In a southerly with a swell coming in you will probably break all the linen.

Autumn and winter are an ideal time to visit there.
