Anyone see this last night on australian story??
If not google it. Can watch it online. Story of 2 sailors. 1 51 yo m , dreamed of owning a yacht forever. Surfer/fisherman. Met another guy yacht club coffs and they organised to go to south america on 51 yo boat. Younger guy also wanted a yacht but no money. In the middle of pacific 51 yo supposedly falls off and younger guy continues on from 2000nm west of galapagos to galapagos. Doesnt tell family of mob for 4.weeks. plot thickens. Ill leave it there....

Watch it on iView on www.abc.net.au

Yep saw it, I at first thought well its possible to fall?? or even step overboard after weeks of frustrating becalms (brought visions of the movie "Dead Calm" back), certainly was an fascinating twist near the end, worth watching.

Havent seen a boring episode of Australian Story yet!, top shelf story-telling.

Dunno about simon golding though. ...i.can understand fatigue clouding judgement etc but it seems he wanted to claim the boat and his behaviour a few days after mob according to yacht he encountered after storm...dodgy. he seems evil.

I also had my doubts until the end.

At least the family know he's away for 30 years, even if they may never know what really happened.

That's a heavy story, that one..... that and Bob Chappell, the Hobart husband who disappeared but his ketch refused to sink when presumably scuttled...... that was very scetchy.......and the death of Natalie Wood.... What is it about boats?

Ok, good info

Given my partner is ****ty over the new anchor.

I shall be wearing a life line from here on in and removing all sharp objects

I still remember that yacht up nth qld that they found drifting. ..with the fenders out and all aboard missing never to be found. That ones a mystery.

I guess its true. ...worse things happen at sea
