Anyone know of any for sale, or a good place to keep an eye on this kind of boat hardware?

Also, would anyone recommend the old ones, are there certain models that are problematic that i should avoid?

$4400 is a fair bash of the wallet...

Cheers.

Scottymate,
I would be jumping on the Sailormat on Ebay at the moment, item number
320416562741.

Failing that make your own. I have one almost completed now made from mostly ss tube and plate, I have plenty of scrap laying around. Probably spent $20 so far. Based on a Walt Murray design. There is a good forum dedicated to windvane self steering; cruisenews.net

I'm Ramona on that one as well. Not expensive to make but very time consuming.

Thanks Ramona, I'll look into all those things. See if the old boy has his welding gear still, and will look in to the DIY option.

I have some self steering gear you can have for free that has come off a Van De Stadt 34.

It is not Flemming but similar. It is a "Saye's Rig" from the USA and I have a small manual that describes it's usage. One part is missing which is a universal joint that could be easily remade.

One thing it does have is a beautifully made s/s servo rudder and shaft. It is located in Maryborough, Queensland. If you are not in a hurry (who isn't these days) I can photo it and email them.

It is of no use to me and I would rather see someone get use out of it than throw it away. Cheers Cisco.
