Been a little down lately, partly because of my headsail (replacement value $4000)shredded and my Spinnaker that ive done so many miles on (value---$5000) Torn to pieces from overpowering too much.
Went to Ebay to find some second hand sails to keep me cruising until i can afford some new ones , I ended up buying a headsail that was near new almost perfect dimensions for my boat........ $400 bargain! and found a bloody big spinnaker 17meters High for 900bucks.
They both are in excelent condition and a sail from Sydney to Pittwater yesterday lifted my spirits big time! It was blowing 12 Knots ESE and i was doing 9 knots all the way, Passing a couple of monos along the way and even another large catamaran. Didnt get to put up the kite but the new Headsail really held a nice shape (better than the old one). Happy now ... Life is good!
Anyway "Second sail" was the dealers name and he has plenty of stock for small or large boats, there is also a dealer in Melbourne by the name of "Warwick Hobin" with a net listing of all stock, Worth a try if your suffering from the GFC or just too lazy to get work like me!

Nice to hear you're alive and well........and shot past Moreton Bay in which we should've had a Crowther Christmas Drink...no worries.

We finally decided to get a new main and heady before going north last year....a new outfit...LR Sails out of Deception Bay, Qld. So far great, no probs, our cat sails better than ever before...wish we'd seen this post re this seller before we ordered new, though....new IS expensive!!!!!!!!

Good to hear you!!

Hi Trace, I left Tin Can Bay and had such a good run that my next stop was Gold coast so i didnt get to sail into Moreton bay to visit. Was going to Sydney for a silly bloody hang gliding competition and to get out of the north for the cyclone season (had a funny feeling). last time i heard from you i think you were going to Gladstone? How was the secret reef you were going to ?

I have bought several sails from Alan for my old yacht. The main was off a 34 foot racer, full battens and superb quality Dacron, I cut it down to suit. Was obviously someone's Dacron no expense sail and probably replaced it with some sort of carbon mix sail. His descriptions and photos are usually spot on. One of the best sails on that boat come off eBay, a number 3 Kevlar Mylar [onion bag]. Paid $5 and $25 postage. I have spent several hours repairing it but damn its a good sail. Another cheapy was a Mylar radial cut genoa. Great sail but when it started delaminating its all over.
There are some great sails out there secondhand. Alan has a nice looking Currawong 30 main advertised for about $140. If I didn't have 3 really good ones already I would be tempted.
