I was sad when Morning Bird sailed away. I continue to have the dream of sailing to places, but I knew in reality it wasn't going to happen to warrant keeping her. I still miss her though.

I get away from it all in my garage. MB went in part to fund building another car.

Man I like those cars of yours, Morningbird, partly because there's no computer hidden anywhere. You can get to the carb, distributor, fuel pump etc. and tune it without needing a proprietary plug-in module to interpret error codes. That's how I like my boats too.

This is a bit off track for sailing but I know many yachties also like cars.
I actually have two TR2s, the green one above is my daily driver and has been since 1976. We just did a 7 day NSW tour in it, didn't miss a beat. I do carry a range of useful spares and tools though.
The other TR2 I bought in 3 trailer loads of parts 3 years ago.
The TR6 is more complicated with Lucas fuel injection. But still relatively simple.
Morning Bird's little diesel was child's play, very simple.
The cars are why Morning Bird went to somebody who will use her.

...no survey, 4 years old antifouling, 15 years old rigging, 35 years old engine
overseas insurance just in receivership, boat not insured.

The advert says survey available and the engine was overhauled 1000 hours ago. Morning Bird had a Sole 36 years old and it was still a great engine.
Something doesn't seem right.
It is well presented in the ads and a fair price, very fair. MB sold for $42,500 and apart from the S&S pedigree wasn't as nice a boat. It did have 3 year old rigging.

I've just been asked for the hundredth time "what's your best offer".... Ahhh, I don't make the offers, I'm the seller. You come and view the boat First and then you make your best offer... I'll either agree or I won't.

It will be a happy day when it sells....

I must just get too atattched to my boats! For the 5 boats i have sold in my life so far, i have been sad everytime i have sold one. When we sold my childhood boat when i was 17 i was a little teary eyed as i watched it steam out of the marina.

No, I still dream about boats but I know it won't get used and I'll just maintain it. I've learnt that lesson.
On nice sailing days I take a car for a spin, give it an Italian tuneup and enjoy the rewards of the work I've put in.

Managed to get the whole amount back what l spent in the last eight years and some.
Ok, it was the luck of the draw, after the lightning strike the QBE insurance Co. was genteel enough to pay off the claim like a Lord.
I agree, l could have been burned.
I feel super lucky, most likely the freak of the century, one who did not loose money owning a sailing yacht.

I am going for a ride instead, l was chasing MB the other day down the road near Leichhardt and blowing him into the weeds, the poor car driver.
