A minimum of $3000. Am sure someone will be along soon with a closer quote.

Check the recent Free range Sailing youtubes for what is involved in a decent refit.
Troy's advice is , make it seaworthy, sail for a year and then do the mods or refit that you think necessary.

Penong! been though there a few times. I presume your going to have a mooring at Ceduna. Compass 29 would be a good yacht there. I hear stories of the increase numbers of white pointers along that stretch of coastline. In my home town snorkeling and scuba diving has become unsafe thanks to the shark cage businesses.

Yes mate that's my plan I've got a mooring I made for the sonata 7 already out the front of the yacht club
im a keen surfer 40 years of addiction I was a roof tiler then became a diver in Lincoln 17 years ago since then I became a sat diver although after over 10 years mainly in the Middle East the industry is practically dead I went back to roofing a couple of years ago part time
back to the sharks every one says the tuna are getting closer to shore every year I'm suspecting super sized fishing in the southern ocean is to blame
I have complete respect for pointers there awesome to watch
friend of mine says he's going out with a tuna company on Tuesday ( they go out off ki mainly now instead of Eucla)
he reckons there must be good Numbers out there as his company has 3 cages out there already
back to the C29 if it's not sold yet I'll possibly go check her out Tuesday ( I didn't really want another yacht until at least feb March next year as I've got lots on like most people this time of year but a c29 for 5k is possibly meant to be)from what I gather they are an over engineered tough yacht although they may be a bit slow but safe

with the Bukh 10 that hasn't been started for two years what suggestions do you have other than taking a battery and trying to crank it
ill ask owner if he has a crank handle although I'm a complete novice motor wise
also some one said I may need to bleed fuel lines and use aero start but I'm unsure

ceduna is a magic spot for accessing the Nuytts archipelago beautiful and untouched it's also a good place to hone your skills as it's shallow choppy and either very windy or calm
my old sonata is great with the retractable keel but difficult as she is easy to over power in the breeze causing weather helm and causing her to round up into the wind
also she's a very old girl and I do worry the keel will go straight through her bottom one day and she may follow it down in a very small amount of time
some one told me the biggest pointer ever caught was between st francis island and goat island
few waves I'm keen to surf around there
but it's a sea burial if that happens back into the food chain while you fight a wild animal pretty cool but hopefully not because I've got kids and a lot of dreams

I just bought another yacht with a deal I could not refuse. With the bukh I would suggest taking along a socket set and decompress the engine and see if the crankshaft rotates. Check the dipstick for oil level first. If it's above the mark it may have water under the oil. Look in the rocker cover and if its OK try cranking the engine over with a socket. Take your time. If it moves freely then it should run eventually. I would clean out the fuel tank and change the fuel filters, bleed etc before starting it with a battery. Fresh fuel and no air leaks there should be no need for aero start.
