If you intend selling sailing dinghies on eBay try and put them in the right section, Sailboats. There seem to be a lot of good boats hidden is weird places and never get bids. Handy for some if your buying. This Vagabond is a good example

If your searching try misspelling too. Amazing how many people, including brokers advertising yatchs!!!!!!

Have always found that the search engine on ebay brings up all sorts of rubbish only vaguely related to what you are looking for.

For example if you type in "Sail Boats" into the search bar you will get sail boat broaches, T- shirts, lamps, books, paintings, key rings, candles and anything else advertised with the words sail and boat.

What is the answer?? Do you have to do a "Boolean search" like (-sail+boat-) or whatever??

The search engine on Gumtree is marginally better whereas the search engine on Boat Point and others can be narrowed down to tight specifics.

The point I was trying to make was just ensure you list your boat in the right section. That Vagabond [which is a good boat at a good price] is listed under water sports!. The Corsair I just bought was too and I had to compete with a couple of bidders and only a handful of lookers. The Solo I just sold in the sail boat section had more than 300 lookers! Lots of the buyers are beginner sailers.

I like Gumtree and use it for buying but its very difficult to search. Often its better to use Google and link to the sites.

Nah! C'mon, the real point you were trying to make is that you are addicted to eBay

Search under cars bikes and boats with nothing in the main search bar.
Then select "boats" in the categories,
Then select "sailboats"
easy peasy!

No, not easy peasy at all, you have missed the point of Ramona's and Cisco's posts. Your search method will find all the sailboats that are CORRECTLY placed in the SAILBOAT section, Ramona's original post was about finding boats that had been placed in the WRONG section but were still for sale in eBay as a whole eg. putting a sailboat into the motorboat section, it's there, but you won't find it with your search method.
