First ... Sailing masters... Please... This is a sailing forum, ignore any non relevant questions.

Some times ago,was an advertisement in local paper
45 foot Ketch , complete rigging, masts and more for sale.
Turn up to see whats up.
Have to say beautiful centre cockpit boat, nice rigging, shiny winches.
Owner took us inside, the boat was nearly empty. See it's ready for complete
restoration. But just before I started, I call a marine surveyor.
Owner showed us a half a dozen spot.
Survey was done without taking the boat out of water, he chipped the concrete,
Just enough to expose the steel mesh. Steel wires were partly or completely corroded.
Final decision is clear, owner was devastated.

I've seen a steel boat up on the slips. Msb condemned it. Had to be craned off the slips onto a semi and scrapped. I've seen a ferro yacht on the beach that was never going to break up. Was blown to bits with Dynamite, bet we never see that happen again! The concrete yachts all around my mooring will outlast us all. There is good and bad in all constructions.

This ferro yacht is in the marina down the road and and appears to be in good condition www.boatsalestas.com.au/sail-monohulls/wilf-o-kell-ketch-lioness-of-the-sea/123275/
