I am racing a bit and own a Farr 740 sport............... I want to go faster and still have a cabin for overnighting, have been looking at Ross and Youngs to 8 m (want a trailer boat) any suggestions? Experiences? I want a boatequipped with bow spit and screecher. How good is balsa sandwitch compared to GRP? Had an epoxy over ply yacht and did not like it (prone to holes) but easy to fix.

I was thinking along the lines of a "Flying 15" with a boom tent, Esky and a disposable BBQ.

What about an RL 28, seems to meet your specs except maybe the speed .....compared to a Young or Elliot

I can find no information of that type of boat, it may well be a "one off".

Balsa coring as opposed to straight ply construction gives a much stiffer hull as you have a double skinned hull, whichever way the forces act, one skin will always be in tension while the other is in compression. The hull will also be quieter and better insulated. End grain balsa has very high compressive strengths. Should be a very nice boat form what I see, appears to be well set up.

is at my club and I would not put more than $10.000 at that price it will be there for some time she is a nice yacht but in timber and needs a BIG tlc. She is crying for a screecher and bow spit!
Need for speed looks good too and is in Perth (big $4k) bonus also in need of a screecher

As we say dreaming is free and my far is not sold (yet) I have no rush to sell so won't drop the price too much! That is the secret in the yacht trading game, I have never lost money on a yacht!
