My dad is missing somewhere in the Pacific ocean between Australia and Fiji. He's been out there for about 5 weeks now. He is not in Australian waters as our search and rescue have checked.
What I ask is that if you could put the word out to anyone travelling through those ways to keep an eye open for him. He's 78 yrs old, his boat is called Mahi and it's a 36 foot yacht with blue hull.
If you could do this I would be great full as we are doubtful of how much food and waterhe has on board.
Regards
Melz
It is believed he left Moreton Bay Queensland, on or about the 30th July to return to Fiji where he now lives. Family in Australia presumed he had arrived home but then last week his girl friend from Fiji rang family here asking about after him as they had not seen him arrive back yet.
They immediately alerted authorities in Australia and Fiji. He's now listed as missing. The Fijian navy is out looking for him and Australia's Search and Rescue has been looking from this end.
His vessel is a blue hulled vessel called Mahi and is heavily laddend as he was returning to Fiji with the rest of his belongins.

Bit better description of the vessel may help. There is a royal blue coloured ferro yacht, bit tatty that has been in our port for about a fortnight. Have not seen the owner. I thought it was a RORC 32 but it could be longer. I'll check the name tomorrow.
3 other blue yachts here too that fit the description but I know them. Lots of old blokes sailing up and down the coast and they seem to have a different attitude once they are in their 70's. He could be anywhere.

The good news is this chap set off his EPIRB and was picked up by a P&O cruise liner two thirds of the way to Noumea. Apparantly he ran out of food as he was out for far longer than planned.
