Just looking for an idea how much to get it sailed
down to Melbourne.

Assuming the yacht is FULLY seaworthy, a delivery Master is going to cost you $200 per day minimum and that is a bargain price for the service you get.

General rule of thumb is 100 per person per day plus expenses (being rationing, fuel and return travel costs). For Syd to Melbourne you would have 3 experienced people to cover the watches, might get away with 2 and a couple of helpers ("helpers" - at no cost and there for the experience and log miles) if it is a well set up boat. What type of boat and which safety rating does it comply too?

Sleek, When and how big was the last yacht that you had delivered? Apart from the costs to un-rig and re-rig anything bigger than about 34ft, there goes the first thousand and then some....

u would spend $1,000 in just fuel with the truck to transport the yacht .. then ya got man hours and the travel back to sydney costs to cover as well ...

will edit my post, it was a 28ft compass qoute was in the 1 thousand zone cost 200 to lift out and de rig in sydney, 200 to rig and put in at paynesville.18 months ago when fuel was expensive. It was roughly half of what i got qouted to deliver by sea. I am sure it would be cheaper to deliver by sea up the east coast because it would be the same distance by road and a lot safer, If you look at a map of australia suprise suprise Sydney to Melbourne is shorter by road than by sea and that is not taking into account the bass straight conditions.i did not go ahead with it but did research a lot.

If you took two days to get melb -syd or vicky verser....you would be sacked....overnight plus load and unload and that can be long or short depending how much you do....

Should be a great buy, plus the added bonus of the new donk being put in her. 3k still sounds a little exy but its worth every cent when she is delivered in better nick than when you buy it.
