Hi All, Looks like I be moving to Melbourne in a couple of months....greatly enjoyed the city over last few months and real estate prices are still in the affordable bracket so taking the plunge etc.. So weather pending I would plan 1-2 weeks to do the trip and in need of crew and advice....I would cover any food and boat costs for anyone that has experience and wishes to jump onboard and chances are that I would have a car to drive back to Sydney. As to advice I read a bit of info and it seems that you can hop 1-2 day sails hugging the coast with reasonable chances of decent sails if weather permits...I also read about the rip in PPB so is there anything else to look out for? The yacht is Bounty 35, well proven coastal and offshore...
Please forgive me if I misinterpret, but from your last couple of sentences, it appears you have done some reading but may not have sailed this route before. That's ok, but I would strongly suggest you invest in some more research so you are aware of the anchorages and "bolt-holes' along the potentially nasty Bass Strait coast, and also to learn a bit more about the weather patterns and tides. The Cruising Yacht Association of Victoris has just published an excellent book "Cruising Victoria" which gives you all of that. Google them.
As I said, apologies if I have underestimated your knowledge.
Cheers, Graeme
