Flags

yes I said flags.

last year I wrote a tongue in cheek guide to flags and flag ettiquette after a day out racing on a friends boat. He flies a blue flag.
You should know off the bat that categorically I detest the blue flag being flown rather than the red and the snobbery that surrounds blue flags amongst others. I had spent the entire day cursing out loud, effing effing end effing some more about those blue things, or more particularly the people who fly them.
I'm quite new to the Solent area of the British south coast having been an east coaster most of my life, so this blue flag mentality is a new thing for me.

I introduced my own take on this bizarre and pretty silly thing we've got going on over here with ensigns and social order.

Here's what I wrote about the Australian flag:
----------
The Red Ensign (Australia)
Looks a bit like the standard British one, but with stars, that's because the Queen, our Liz, is also the head of state and she drew some pretty stars on their flag, like little regina kisses to let those down under know just how much she loves them. There's a star for each famously exported Australian celebrity, a bit like the Hollywood walk of fame.
If you see this being flown around the British Isles, chances are someone will be having a BBQ soon, you might want to make friends with them, buy them a drink. They've probably come a long way.
They don't give a flying monkey's right testicle about those other coloured flags because they're way too cool to worry about that kind of sh**.

Australian ensign "Wait, what do you mean they have a blue one as well? You've got to be kidding me..."

--------
you can read the thing in its entirety if you like (it's a bit long to post the whole thing on here), it's lengthy, but it does include Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris and a picture of me and my mate drinking rum as pirates for breakfast.
virtually not a single swear word either (which is most peculiar for me, known for my potty mouth), so its kinda family safe too.
