G'day all

Just wondering on what you all think my little boat would be capable of?

Crew skill notwithstanding I would like to one day do some coastal cruising and maybe short passages to places like Tassie, NZ and the top end.

As I am currently refurbishing this vessel, I am keen to hear of any suggested upgrades!

Hi Chris

A mate of mine sailed a Marauder 24 from Airlie Beach to Hobatr single handed in the 80's so given the right conditions anywhere is possible

Regards Don

Hi Chris

been meaning to message you. Our family had a 721 built in 1980 by Seahorse Yachts in Sydney. We had the boat up until I inherited her when Dad passed away in 2008 and, as I had another boat, had to find someone to take her over.

We did a lot of sailing in Moreton Bay in some pretty hairy conditions...anything up to around 35 knots.

In terms of the build, Dad had to a lot of rebuilding/beefing up around the keel area as it wasn't laid up properly. Yep...dodgy.

Personally, with high freeboard, fin keel, spade rudder...she's not the design I would be happy doing a Trans Tasman or popping over to Tasmania with. However, as above, pick your weather and usually most boats make it.

Have fun with your girl :)

Gday Selkie thanks for your reply! Thanks also for the comment regarding the keel - I was wondering how well things would be secured down there. I'm planning to get it up on the hard stand at Sydney Boat Storage ($23/day!) so if need be I will drop the keel and do any reinforcing required. Yes I realise this is a big job but I want to do it once and properly! I'd love to have a chat with you about this if possible.

I've spoken to a local rigger and he said it would be a good idea to beef things up in that area too.

Do you have any documentation relating to this model? The pics I posted are all the information I've got.
