Hi All, I've just signed up here and it looks to be a good site.
At present I have an RL24 which I like a lot, but get frustrated when I have to depend on other people for mast raising, launching and retrieval. I would like to go out sailing more often whenever I feel like it, so am considering a keel boat which will require a mooring.
Before I pay the money to go on a waiting list I have been trying to get a quote from a mooring contractor without any success, after about an hour of searching.
Does anyone know who I can contact in this area for a quote?
Cheers

Your local RMS has a list of approved mooring contractors, contact them.

I tried them first by phone, they said they don't recommend private businesses. I can't find any mention on their website either

You are right, they won't recommend anyone but they do maintain a list of approved contractors. You may have better luck by going to the RMS office and have a face to face rather than on the phone, I find the people approach works better than a faceless conversation on the phone. An approach to the local yachties that have moorings may also reveal some info of benefit.

PM me at some stage, I will have to track the number down.

My last work phone has died, and they gave me a new phone, so I have lost a lot of contacts.

The guy I used was Lance, and Peter from RMS actually gave me his number!

I will check with a couple of mates down there and track down the number. Hopefully he is still around, but it was getting full, so maybe he has given up. (I still need a mooring service soon)

Lance. 0401598903. The river mooring situation has freed up now that the marina option has been cancelled. Good luck

Thanks guys, I'll give him a call.

Just thought I'd mention what a good forum this is. I've looked on a few others before I knew about this one and glad I found it.

Would be happy to meet up with anyone in the Tweed area.

Cheers,

Charlie

Hi mate,

I did hear a rumour that the proposed marina was cancelled, so this is confirmed??

and do you know if they are going to re-issue the moorings back around near the south tweed bridge/boyds bay???

Much nicer place than in the river!

Rick,

I didn't know about the marina proposal. Did a search and the most recent I can find is from seven months ago which says the plan is "shelved"

www.echo.net.au/2013/07/tweed-marina-plan-shelved/

I should be up at the RTA/Maritime tomorrow and will try and find out (assuming somebody there knows anything)
