Has anyone had any success with the cheap underwater LEDs from Whitworths versus some of the others that are like 10x the price?

I'm keen to install some but just don't want to pay like $600 each..

I wouldn't go cheap on underwater lights. It's possibly an expensive business to have them installed out of the water if you have to slip your boat. And if they don't have enough power it ends up being a waste of time and money.
Don't fully understand the need for them in any case.

They're great for night fishing, and fishing for calamari, attracts all sorts of fish to your boat

the ones from whitworths are much better than the $90 ones on ebay,
sons have had both types,
once the ebay ones turned up they were ditched,
don't know how the ebay seller can claim they are waterproof OR sturdy

And I have a spare switch in my control panel I need to find a use for.. Running out of better ideas..

There's a small flange bracket on each side of the rudder box I was going to install them on as I can take the rudder off easily, so I don't really need to be worried about leaking into the hull..

I have them on my boat, why? Because my wife wanted them. It was a small compromise in the sceam of things. As they say "Happy wife happy life"
They say you should leave them 'ON' all the time as it prevents groth on them. I don't, I just coat then with the clear coat from PropSpeed and give them an occasional wipe.
