I'm amazed there has been no mention of this subject on this forum the last few weeks. Sailing Anarchy has had a good thread forums.sailinganarchy.com/index.php?/topic/140038-vestas-sailrocket/
There has been a massive jump in the speed record, its now around 65 knots and could possibly go out to 70. Australia now holds the record for fastest on water power and sail! The technology is really very interesting, I like how the hull is offset 20 degrees to the direction of travel.
Good video, I like the way it accelerates as Larso bears away. If you think bearing off in a large racing cat is exciting try this.

The camera mounted on the kite of a fast moving kite board shots are not too shabby either.

Hi Ramona, I downloaded the video this morning so I'm trying to find the link again. I saw a previous video and it had one of the shore crew flying a remote controlled helicopter with a go-pro. I think you'll find that this is where the overhead footage came from. If it was a kite he would have been 50 meters inland

Larso mentioned on Sailing Anarchy the overhead shots came from his mate with a camera mounted on a kite. The kite sailor was doing an fair rate too, something like 45 knots and you can see the rocket pulling away from him.
