Pity you didn't put any reference, we can follow.

Have to say, must be thousands of people like him, and we wouldn't hear about.

Did you follow " Halcyon adventure " T/ S 23' from Mel. to Darwin.
His website is not active any more but some video still there and some reference.

My favourite is a guy from the town next to me where I born.
He build 24 footer from plywood. No radio, no engine.
Circumnavigated the world, very successful journey, published two books with plenty pics.
His boat " NIKE "was on display in local town.

Not famous achievements .....this would be one of them....

NIKE was completed in 1971 on backyard in Moravia.
Build as a 24 footer ketch, later converted to sloop.
Transfer to Poland / Szczecin /
Tested in Baltic Sea .
Took part in OSTAR 1972 / single handled England to Newport USA/
Cyclone season 1973-74, Townsville
September 1975 arrived back in Poland .

There are two books from that journey, but now they thinking to translate them to English.
Those books were strongly edited to comply with east European ideology.
Most people now would see it as a great documentary from the deck of 24 footer.

I know the building a boat, preparation and journey was as much demanding
as fighting the system to achieve anything when you stuck
behind the IRON CURTAIN. / countries east block /.

All the way through his trip he was not fully legally overseas and he would be arrested on return.
A few days before arrival back to Poland, he was officially accepted and welcome
In Helgoland - Germany, Poland and Czech representatives and all media.
