Hi Seabreezers. Well my family's life as sailors started today. My wife and I took our 12yo son down to Docklands for discover sailing day. Our son is autistic and we've been really struggling to find activities for him to enjoy. I've spent the last few weeks getting him used to the idea of sailing a boat - he's always been very reluctant to try new things. So today I was prepared for him to flatly refuse to go sailing, but to my surprise he jumped straight in and we sailed for nearly 2hrs. For that whole time his face was lit up by his beautiful smile. He's so proud of now being a real sailor! I hope this will be the first of many more sailing days to come.

Welcome to Seabreeze Danno and congrats on spending the day in such a way.
Hopefully your son will catch the sailing bug and your family spends many more joyous times together.

That's marvelous Danno.
We took some friends' kids aged 8 and 10 out for the 1st time. Now they are doing sailing lessons. There is a power in the wind, sea and companionship of sailors.
Much happy family sailing to you.

Sailing is one of the few activities people of all ages and abilities can enjoy as much as each other. Just start easy and don't scare anyone. There is lots of good advise to be had here so don't be afraid to ask. We all had to start at sometime so even simple questions are OK

There's a great program at Blairgowrie, sailing for everyone in their fleet of Access dinghy's.
Great spot as well, sailing in and around the marina, give them a call !
