Any advice would be appreciated

On the Mottle 33 I had at one time we used a small diameter spectra. Dont know if it was the "best" line but it was strong and small and never tangled. Worked fine.

Don't need anything fancy on a furler line as a little stretch won't hurt. 10mm double braid would be fine even if you are using the furler to Reef the jib.

I think double braid is ample. I changed mine down to 6mm double braid. The original was 8 0r 10mm and jammed regularly even though I kept tension on it as I unfurled and secured it when the sail was unfurled. The new rope has gone soft and fluffy and tends to get the occasional overriding turn. When I replace it I will be going for a stiff, hard lay, shiny double braid. I will be buying it from the shop too. Current one is off eBay and I'm not impressed with how it's lasted.
I like the idea of the flat strap furlers that are now available.

Thanks for the replies guys. Standard double braid seems like the go, not too expensive either. The spectra sounds like a good idea Trek but I its pretty costly.

Double braid is fine .
A trick if you want a bit more purchase for furling is to buy 50% more rope than you need and remove the core from the length you don't handle.
This will.mean the furling drum has a bigger diameter when pulling to fuel and therefore more purchase.
Same trick cam work if you want bigger furling line for handling.
If you want something stiffer for for a double braid with a 32 plait cover rather than the standard 16
