Did you read all the benefits?
A little luxury and a lot cheaper than renting an apartment for a week.

Blimey, why would you ever get on the boat!

I'm going to vote for Gladstone. Good price, exceptionally friendly & helpful staff, good facilities kept spotless, easy walk to town & around, courtesy shuttle to main shopping centre.

Of course, it all depends what you are looking for at the time.

Cheers

Bristol.

I actually stayed here for a couple of nights on my way north as a bit of a treat and it was pretty damn good. Yes it's pricey but I reckon I just about got my daily money's worth in free cocktails, beers and coffees alone, not to mention the benefit of being able to go for a drive in a Lexus to do my reprovisioning. And the full on private marble bathrooms are pretty amazing! Really nice staff too.
Price wise it's not that different to other marinas in expensive places like Sydney and where I am now in Southport but you get a hell of a lot more for your money.

Yep, Gladstone was pretty good.
We stayed 4 nights, I think I paid $52 pn for 12m pen.
Didn't see any of the coal dust people talk about and as you say Bristol, "exceptionally friendly & helpful staff, good facilities kept spotless, easy walk to town & around, courtesy shuttle to main shopping centre".

Gladstone marina is very good with very friendly management and staff who go out of their way to make your stay plesant. At $31.50 a day it is good value unlike Bundaberg where it cost $20.00 for half a day to tie up my tender as the outboard was playing up.The facilities are spotlessly clean at all times. The grounds all the way to the bridge into town are a credit to the people who do the work. Great fish and chips at the coop some of the best I have had. Yacht club has a friendly atmosphere in all a very plesant stay.

We were weather bound in pt Stephens and instead of a marina for a little luxury and a break from impending cabin fever we took advantage of the public mooring and motels in Karuha,

Another vote here for Gladstone, its like something out of The Truman Show movie, the grounds are impeccable, with spotless bbq's, staff are very friendly and helpful, the arms are wide apart making it easy to get into the berths, they try to get you into the shortest berth to save you money marine services close by, Gladstone itself an easy walk through the gardens along the river. Towns folk are friendly, all the shops in town.
They have large water misters going next to the coal (&nickel?) loaders so there's no dust blowing everywhere. And your only a days Sailing from Great Keppel Is.
Hamilton Is is good, just to experience. Full services including bus rides around the island , with commentary about everything to do with the island. Use of the various hotels swimming pools, make it an enjoyable stay, but $80 for. Night for a 25ft boat it's expensive.

We sometimes motor up the Yarra and stay there overnight on weekdays, catching a movie after work. It's cheaper than a taxi home. In fact it's almost cheaper than driving and parking in Melbourne depending where you live.

The shared facilities are top shelf with excellent city views. I have a feeling that the council subsidises the rates to stimulate use of Docklands.

For less than $250 pw off-peak you can live in the middle of a capital city !

And on the same track, our least favourite was Able Point at Airlie Beach - expensive but, unlike Soldiers Point NOT worth it, hassled staff with little time for us, A terrible booking system where 2 people in the office were an hour long queue and which also meant they couldn't advise berth until the last minute. We were given a berth not long enough or wide enough on a terribly narrow finger - even we had trouble getting in. Facilities mediocre and crowded. The whole place was continually packed with trippers & charterers with not enough room.

Oh, and we went to the pizza restaurant one time for an end of cruise meal - and they had run out of pizzas!

On the upside, we saw a dugong and calf twice just outside the marina.

Cheers
