Having just spent three hours trying to push a wire through my pullpit for my navigations lights , this after fixing all the wires so my lights where working fantastic last time I used them , so patting my self on the back , am sailing down the coast and watching them working away .
I went to use them again the port one wasn't working so head down and check the wires and sure enough a wire had parted from pushing my sails into the front cabin , so I grabbed the new conections I had bought to do them properly this time as I had only twisted them together so I could get going.
Half hour later looks great and all working Yahoo .
Few weeks later out sailing night comes in so on goes the lights i can see all of them except the same port one, i have no doubt it's working but jump up to the bow just to make sure, would you believe it not working, i match back down stairs undo all the connections put them back together , that should do it back upstairs nope nothing.
WHAT THE F@#$ man this is driving me crazy.
I sat down on the bow as we sailed along and just happened to touch the wires on the back of the light and very a small flash of red ahhhh getting close I look at the wire and I notice the very small wire has broken, which leads onto three hours trying to push a new wire down that bloody stainless steel pushpit.
Bet you have far worse than that

Scraping who knows how many years of anti from the the hull back to the original gel coat . The following 8 coats of epoxy and a couple of anti was like a walk in the park .

Trying to find a leak that was due to the previous owner failing to plug the old screw holes when he fitted new wooden rubbing strips to the gunwale. Sometimes the leak was fresh water (when it rained) and sometimes salt (on port tack, gunwale awash). Aaarrrggghhh!!!

I was a newbie and it took years. to find. I rebedded everything from @$%*hole to breakfast and only found it when I removed the gunwales years later. Quite a bit of water damage to interior varnished wooden bits occurred, but much more to my psyche.

Hi Graeme when I bought my yacht about 4 months ago I moved on board and of course that night there was a storm and the boat leaked like a sieve the mattress I was on was dripping windows leaked and to my dismay there was water coming in all around the boat from the deck hull fitting , since found it's the rivets through the toe rail ,so I have some work to do, I try real hard not to put the rails down bloody miserable.

It was a 40 degree summer day when my Mottle 33 Head was jammed up. Fortunately for me my mate volunteered to fix it. That involved crawling on his stomach in a stoopway to the back of the head and undoing hose clamps and the back of the hand pump. As he undid the hose clamp the pressure inside the hose, caused by many futile attempts at pumping caused the hose to suddenly let go and its contents sprayed at high pressure all over my mate and being in a stoopway he couldnt jump up to escape but banged his head hard trying to get out of the way while yelling words I cant publish on this forum :-) He had to crawl out super fast backwards in a delightful liquid while being gently sprayed still and jumped straight into the drink. Sharks at that point were better!

Ha ha ha the smell ahhhhhh

Dunnies on boats are the worst.... I have a porta potti. I hate it, but in my wee Top Hat is a bit hard to fit a decent holding tank. This happened in Gladesville and was yet another reason for moving to Careel Bay.

I had un-clipped the top section, the water tank part, and had put that aside. Then I just had to lift the bottom, holding tank part out of it's mount, through the cabin and into the cockpit. After that I had only to motor in to the jetty and put the thing in the car to take home.

Just as I stepped into the cabin from the forward v-berth, where the potti lives under the bed, a *&%^*&(ing Rivercat passed through. For some reason they're exempt from slowing under the bridge there and their wash is quite big. I overbalanced, knocked the outlet cap off on the bench and sh!t went everywhere. Thankfully I was able to save it from completely emptying all 20 litres, but I still had to mop up about 5 or 10. Remove all the floor carpet and disinfect every surface in the cabin. Worst thing was that the cap cracked and therefore let the whiff out all the way home in the car, which also then had to be fumigated to get rid of the smell. Took me hours!

So, if anyone has a good method of a proper macerating holding tank for a Top Hat without a head enclosure, I'm all ears....
