We had a interesting experience in a race on Saturday on the Huon

We were heading down the river with the kite up and the three leading boats had already rounded the mark and were coming back up the river also with kites up with

When we were about a boat length away from them all of the spinnakers collapsed as we entered the area wher both breezes met

Not often you see boats heading towards each other with kites up

We were in a north westerly off the land and the other three boats were in a developing south easterly sea breeze

Not sure about the pics but sometimes club members will chase us and get some good shots

The course was two laps from Port Huon around a mark just south of Surges Bay on the Huon

Lots of weird stuff happens at 43 degrees south

The other day in about 60 seconds it went from a light breeze to a steady 60 knots with gusts to 75 knots here that lasted for around 20 mins during a race

Gee just saw that about the 75 knts !!!!!!!!!!! Bloody hell you can have that all to your self !

Racing on Pittwater is a bit like that Don. Such are the land effects on the wind in a narrow stretch of water, that yachts are running under kites in both directions is not uncommon. First time I saw that, caused some head scratching!

Gotta love those Tassie 'breezes'. I'm with SandS,you can keep those down there where they belong!.
