Hi,
I see this post by Cabron but there was no answer to which caulking is good for the toe rail.
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Sailing/General/Which-caulking-or-sealants-on-Toerail-?page=1I have a wooden toe rail which I need to varnish. I then wanted to run a bead along it. More fore aesthetic purposes than to keep water out. It also looks like a bead of caulking was run in the past and this has cracked in places and been varnished over and its now just a long bead of grit.
It will have to be compatible with Kiwigrip as there will be parts where it contacts the kiwi grip.
I am not so keen on Sikaflex as it will crack and is not UV stable. I was even thinking Butyl Mastic and accepting it wont last that long and stuff might stick to it.
The Life Calk product looks good but postage is $40!.
Any recommendations on a suitable caulk to use would be good.
Its an old boat so it doesnt have to be perfect and will blend in with all the other imperfections.
