Hi all,
I have a masthead VHF aerial and cable that I'm keen to get installed on my 24fter.
I'd prefer to have someone do it professionally. Does anyone know what kind of a contractor would do that?Originally I was thinking someone in marine electronics, but realised that most of them probably specialise in powerboat stuff rather than climbing masts. Then I was thinking a rigger.

Anyone with advice on this one?

Much appreciated

Edit: location is Perth

In my experience, if Pete can't do it then you're outa luck.

24ft yacht has a small mast. I would drop it myself and pull the cables through. A rigger would probably want it down anyway.

To get a small yacht mast down, find a friend with a bigger boat. Raft up, masts abeam. connect your kite halyard to theirs on a calm morning and winch it a little up and down.

Then you can work on the mast to your hearts content. Insert a conduit to run the vhf aerial through and check the sheaves.

cheers

I agree. I pulled the mast down on a 26 footer by myself using this method in the photo.
