I was wondering if any of you lovely Ozzies had some additional input for me.
I am here on a Working Holiday Visa and wanted to try my hand at getting a sailing related job before I head out to slave on the farms. I have been planning on going to Airlie Beach as I heard there are a lot charter companies operating there. It seems this might not be the peak season though (January-May). Another thought was to go to Mona Vale as it seems there are a few sailmakers and some other sailing related industry there, marinas etc. Anywhere in the country is an option for me as I am living out of a backpack and keen to travel anywhere.
I'm fine with cleaning boats, heads etc but my main goal is to just keep learning as much about sailboats as I can.
Anyone have any other ideas or locations for me to pursue so I can feed my sailing addiction and see this awesome country via sailboat?
Thanks so much.

Hi DeckApe
Airlie Beach is the hotspot for sailing charter industry. There is a pretty big turnover of staff and many are travellers like yourself. There are some notice boards around town where you can put up notices. I guess the best would be to hang around the AbelPoint Marina and talk to crew as they come in each day.

You could try putting a notice on the notice board of whatever yacht clubs are near your location, most skippers would expect you to have a competent crew certificate at the very least, so if you do not have one I'd suggest getting one first, it doesn't take long or cost too much.

Thanks so much, your input is greatly appreciated. May you both have fair winds and following seas!
I'll probably be heading to Airlie soon enough but I'm still open to more suggestions if anybody else out there has other little valuable nuggets of information.
