i love working around home or gathering wood. I love to listen to music from the car but the new cars just make this kinda hard. To listen to the radio i need to leave the keys in the car. the car beeps constantly if the keys in the car and im not, telling me that im not in the car (thanks, i didnt know!)
Same goes if i wanna listen to the radio with the door open. car beeps constantly til the doors shut.
The other thing is the seat belt beeper. I deliver wood in the ute (holden colorado) on my street. Seat belt beeper beeps constantly. im in and out of the car delivering wood so i cant be stuffed putting the seat belt on and off. ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.....
Same goes if you have say, some thing heavier on the passenger seat. Ding, Ding, Ding Ding. I then have to put the seatbelt on my groceries...
Im cutting the wires under the seats today. dont need the car telling me about seat belts. i have a brain. it works. But as for the car radio and working along side the car , well i just cant do it without listening to , Ding, Ding , Ding , Ding...
Problem with cutting the wires though is that it messes with the cars computer a bit. I know for a fact i did it in my last car, a Forrester and the seatbelt sign remained on constantly. Maybe it could affect the airbags as well?

Im getting a hack very soon. wind down windows, radio, no beeps, no frills. Why on earth do we need this crap installed in cars. As if there isnt enough beeps, noises, rings, notifications as it is.

Something boat related. I was on the boat at anchor the other week and there was a bird noise. THis noise gave me a slight feeling of anxiety. Why? Because McDonalds have stolen it from samsung, who stole it from nature and put it on one of their ads - no lie, to be used as a sound we now identify as being just a notification sound. McDonalds have used it in their ad, and as a result, im at anchor in port hacking in the middle of nowhere really and get the "ive got a message, email" feeling when my phone was OFF.
Im so close to reinstating the old nokia phone. Long life battery - no notification sounds etc...

Didn't you know that, as a subject of Australia, you are not allowed to think for yourself, this is why we have bureaucrats, as well as all these alarms on all our mechanical and electrical products, the new world order is ensuring that we are all as well trained as Pavlov's dogs, hear the beeper put on your seat belt, hear the buzzer close the door, hear the lovely little birdie sing and go to maccas and spend money, I'd say it was subliminal messaging but it's just to in your face to be subliminal.

I disconnected the key beeper in my van as soon as I bought it. Not hard to do, you just permanently connect the terminals of the switch.

There will be instructions for your car in a forum somewhere.


There are also dummy seatbelt attachments that you can just click into the passengers seat seatbelt clip, as if it were a seatbelt. Eg:

These are free if you have access to a 3D printer, and very easy to reverse (ie you just unclip it from the seatbelt).

According to the Public service you people would be disconnecting things which would be against the austalaian complicance law

The public service has to justify there existence you know I just keep thinking its budget time for them and any excess they have will be used so next financial year they get more of your dollars I think that makes them feel better

I'm selling my Toyota ceca next month for 2k it has windup windows no alarm if you leave your lights on.....and costs me nothing to run since I brought it 15 months ago.

Also sometime dealers can disable warning beepers (key in ignition etc) using their diagnostic tool but they will normally not disable anything that may have safety implications like seat belt warning beepers

The catch is I had a pollution bit go wrong last week in my ford and they charge me $44 just to use the diagnostic tool to find out what was wrong!
