its makes Bunbury - Fremantle (85 miles) in 7 hours and 59 minutes seem like nothing. It was fast for us tho!

just messing around, take it easy.
plus it's hard to keep up with something 15 foot longer, so there is no comparison.

yeah alls good. 15 foot long and dont forget 19 years old, so the old girl still boogies when it needs to. We just want more wind for the last 2 freo winter races. We may win our first series if we can get a storm in one of the last 2 races. thats if the starters let us race in it.

Oh interesting news. I have said for a while that a tp 52 would kill anything over here.
Unfortunatly for us, that is what technology will do. Our only real option is to put a canting keel. Wouldnt be too hard on an aluminium boat.

Tony must he a but unhappy with how Wild One has done over here considering it was apparently the fastast 47 around. I think Vendetta really mastered the Assy running and Fast Forward mastered the "far too big kite" running.

When is he planning on the 53?

yeah well that boat just does not go upwind at all well, no matter how hard we try. it's fine downwind.
not sure about the 53. we need more permanent crew and then i['m sure he would fork out for one.
wanna jump ship???

I dont really think the skipper would appreciate his son jumping ship.
We are having a great deal of crew trouble as well, seems some cant committ to the season, so the extent that we were going to have 13 crew for this weekend, now we are down to 6. Hopefully we will have a blow where we dont need to use a kite. We will see how it goes.

We have always had crew trouble, we generally sail with 7 through summer, that is why we dont do a great deal of offshore because most of our crew are from mandurah and sail down there during summer.

www.sailinganarchy.com has a great pic of a tp52 floggin it. Imagine coming back from Bundury doin this...would be great fun

yeah we need 8 crew to sail properly and 6 or 7 for asymmetrics only. it is a constant struggle to get these numbers. some ppl just don't commit. awesome opportunities though to sail on the biggest boats in WA in offshore races, don't understand why more ppl don't commit.

yeah for us 12 is good but we have done a rockingham race with 6. Since the Assy's came onto the boat we are able to sail with 7 and still keep up, but thats inshore. It is all good having 12 crew but if 6 people can only grind and not tell when a sail is set it is useless

yeah i was going to make that point also.
when i say we need 8 to sail the boat generally that means only 4 or 5 of us are competent sailors.
if anyone out there knows how to sail, is willing to be part of a team and sail for free on some of the largest yachts in WA in our offshore and inshore racing calender then get in touch with us! we're in need of crew all the time.
all you need is a keeness to participate and learn and some decent sailing knowledge (just how to sail a boat).

And know that Big Boats have things that make big bangs when you far-kup. We once had a bloke sail with us who was far to mucho to use gloves on the main sheet. bye bye 3 layers of skin on his hand in a jybe.

Common sence is a great quality as well.

Yeah i used to be a runner wench. I havnt had a great deal go rong on the boat. One of the guys got a runner block in the mouth and lost one of his teeth, boom has been dropped on 2 people.

The worst thing that happened to me was when we crossed the finish line in the bunbury race we did a spekky round up, fire the tack line on the Assy and drop it. Unfortunly my arm went between the taught sheet and where it wanted to go, so i got a frikin great bruse, apart from that just the normal stuff like kite pole on the head, getting pushed back by a wave into the mast/forestay. Stuff that makes you know you worked to finish..the things the skipper/navigator never get.
