I'm considering moving my monohull yacht to a 10m or 11m marina berth in southern Qld.
Mackay marina charges seem excessive at $9000 per yr for a 10m berth.
Keppel Bay (Yeppoon) marina is about $6500 per yr for a 11m berth.
Have not yet found the berth rates for The Great Sandy Straits Marina in Hervey Bay.
Bundaberg Port Marina is about $6300 per yr for a 10m berth.
Gladstone Marina rates are $5400 per yr for a 10m berth which seems much more sensible.
Does anyone have any recommendations or direct experience with a marina relating to price, level of service, crime risks, flooding, exposure to heavy seas, etc ?

I like Gladstone marina. Price is right , pleasant people, fuel and supplies readily available. Rented a berth for 9 months some years ago, as a base near to cruising grounds. No sign of crime. Small problem of dust from nearby coal loaders but no permanent damage.

Moolloolaba Kawana Waters Marina very friendly, well run, reasonable. So is Moreton Bay Boat Club. Spent there months recently. Yeah, swing mooring is keeping my finances healthy now.

Yes fees are the killer. I notice there are a few empty places locally and I put a note on my Facebook page that we might all have to go out and buy a yacht off eBay each to fill the place up.

Noticed this excellent buy on eBay has had its price lowered to $4800. The mooring fees in that backwater are $3000, presume its in a marina.

Resurrecting this thread as I'm looking at moving from Sydney to Noosa (potential job there) or if not Noosa then somewhere between Noosa and Ballina.

I was a bit unclear; are you guys saying that there are no permanent swing moorings at Mooloolabah and the only option is a marina berth? Are there permanent swing moorings in this region?

PS: I'm assuming Noosa is inaccessible on a 31 foot yacht with 5 foot draft.
