Steve, it's a crap rule. I understand it though as I work for myself too. But I'm out during the week; often Mondays, sometimes other mornings, or Friday arvo. What's your boat type and name - I'll look out for you.

I was out last Tuesday morning; went down to Woolwich to see Joe Walsh. Ran late there so had to cancel my afternoon meeting so went to Athol Bay for a late lunch and swim. Met a guy with a beautiful, shiny Hudson who said his dad was the designer and builder Hudson. Then this last Monday the first mate and I woke up at Q Station, lazy breakfast, swim then (one of about 4 yachts on the harbour) sailed home at 6 knots downwind under genoa only. Beautiful.

Anyhoo, things are very chilled on the Harbour during the week - very different from the craziness of summer weekends. A few more should get out during the week to even things out a bit.

Yes!!! But I feel so guilty. As I sail lazily past the islands (no good wind in the Lee) , I can hear suburban life. Lawnmowers, cars etc. But all is quiet on the water. Accept....The phone calls keep coming for work....and so the ambiance gets disturbed. You can never truly relax. Im always on my toes ....I hate that. I pretend all kinds of things when people ask where I am or "what's the watery sound in the background?". But when the weather is perfect for what I want to do and I can hold work off to a degree, it has to.be done.

It's usually flat, the water is clear as a bell, every sea creature pops the surface, and it's magic time.
That's Monday for ya.

F@cking mobile phones and email. Kills me.

I know I'm burning the candle at both ends but hey...you only live once.

Haha Dr Rog it is a crap rule and has now been abolished as quick as that!
Ive been going out through the week for 18 months and its awesome. The only negative thing is i have to go by myself because everyone i knows working.
its funny to hear that someone cancelled on Joe Walsh. Geez that guys hard to get hold of…
My Boats name is Aroha and I've got a white life bouy on the back. she's a 22foot Bluebird. She's a bit rough - white.
I been going to Athol a bit. what a magic spot.
In some of my photos of it, it could be in the pittwater. I guess thats kinda what Syd harbour was like back in the day.
I do sometimes feel a bit guilty. As long as i keep on the emails etc its ok, but sometimes thats hard if the wind gets up. I don't have any auto pilot.

Last few times I've been out I've been racing myself over the twilight course we raced a few weeks back. Woodford - around cockatoo , past drummoyne, balmain around Clarke and back home. Get it down in about an hour and a half. Don't get to swim or chill, but at least I've not sailed the day away. (geez did i just say that)
I do a lot of work in Avalon, Newport, Church point etc, so when my boat was there, i used to get the job done in an hour, then get out there. Usually sail to palm beach, swim ashore and pick up a six pack for the downwind journey back. Ahhhh miss that. The harbours cool though. pretty interested.

Ive talked myself into going out again today dammit!!
Enjoy your day fellas!
