The few anecdotes I've heard is that crisiung boat insurance for SE Asia & the Pacific is incredibly expensive - Just not viable for your average cruiser. if you need major repairs or salvage in a remote location, it is not worth it, and the boat will be "scrapped". Hence the high insurance cost.

If you are talking about Thailand I think there are enough boats up there that you might be better off renting one.

The same is probably true for Porta Galera in the Phillipines.

If you are really committed and determined to do this on your own yacht possibly the best entry to doing it is to go in the Darwin to Dili or Ambon race or rally.

They probably get a good bulk insurance package deal.

For me the Queensland coast holds all the fun and adventure a man could handle.

Thanks for reply Looking mostly at north samartra Indo and a few visa runs further north, 12-16 months trip. Third party insurance was on my list I hear it could be impossible to just to get, and have issues with harbours/mariners to get a berth, does this mean I would have limited locations for supplies?
I'm willing to run this risk of no se Asia insurance
