16 weeks ago we were sitting on the front deck and i said " 16 weeks and we're going"
At that point the place was a wreck and needed to be cleaned up to lease it out. 6 months lease is a big ask and not attractive to alot of people, however where theres a will...
Boat. Needed alot - still could do with more, but shes seaworthy and anything can be bought and sent and installed on the way.
WORK. finding the right employees/contractors to fill the void is really hard as anyone would know, but we did it. Got all sydney covered and the highlands.
MONEY. dont have alot and been chopping firewood like crazy, stocking up. While contractors do the marketingwork for me, ive been felling old trees and carving them up, stockpiling and selling wood.
TENANTS. This is the big one. without the mortgage covered we cant go away . 50% of the earnings go on contractors and there just isnt enough to cover a mortgage as well, let lone rates etc.
We've only had about 3 enquiries over the last month. Was looking grim. We are also asking alot of most people to lease it out furnished. I made roof flooring in ceiling out of old pallets and we've stored all out kitchen stuff and most other stuff up there. Big space that you can stand in. No one really wanted the place furnished- understandable. We were going to buy a shed and whack it up the back if needed to house our furniture. BUT.
We were fortunate just a week ago to meet a family that are building a house in the highlands. Need a place, furnished for 4 months. No problem for us. 4 months is better than nothing!
The thing with them was they needed to find a concrete contractor to get a slab down so the building could commence. another mission down here in the highlands is to find someone available. theyre all super busy.

Theyve just contacted me though and said they can move in on the 14th. This means we can start sailing north at the end of next week weather permitting!

Im a real firm believer in " Action creates a re action" or to explain it better...If you set out to do all you can to make something happen - the other half meets you there. Its like magic. we are getting exactly what we want. Not having to move furniture out and getting our mortgage paid. What luck!

Good stuff Sectorsteve, glad things are working out for you.
Like your "action creates a reaction" bit.
If you won't to do something you need to set your mind to it and go for it, and things usually can be worked out.
good luck and enjoy it.

Hopefully get the album finished...this kinda took priority!
Taking mini studio in the form of garage band and a h2 zoom recorder as a mike linked with gb. Sounds great! The 73 gibson hummingbirds coming. Mental. The irony here is i cannot afford a quality mini guitar so im bringing one worth as much as the boat!

Yep that's pretty funny. Bit like the $1k with the $2k sound system.

Keep the good vibes flowing.

Great to hear Steve, my version of what you are saying is that I put my foot out in the air and the ground materialises under it.
Nothing like a bit of adventure to make you feel alive.

Nice!! just doing the last pack up now. We are both anxious as hell and getting ill probably as a result of nerves...
All the what ifs. Moment by moment is all good though, but those minds of ours have a tendency think thousands of thoughts a second. just like breathing and if we let those thoughts go astray, we can allow ourselves to feel fear and negatives.
Its a trick! dont listen to him!

Sometimes (as happened with me) it all starts to look too hard and not likely to happen. Then that final duck gets in the line and your off. Now get out there and experience the trials and tribulations. And if ever you feel it all getting too hard read my FB page Six months on a Leaky Boat (my wife's version of events) and you will at least feel you're not alone. We've had some real clanger moments

Yes some worry more than others. If I worried about sharks I would never go surfing. Nobody wants to be bitten by stupidity but there has to be a balance between actually living life and worrying about what could happen. I crewed on a 44 footer from Perth that sailed over to Sydney for the Hobart race in about 89 I think.
We had 50 knots on the nose for about a week. What I found was that you can't stay scared for very long. You think you are going to die and when you don't you have to relax a bit. Mind you I didn't crap for 2 weeks (must be some kind of record).
Took us 2.5 weeks to get to Sydney with a few hours stop at Wilson's Promontory.
