I am 62 108 kilkos surfed for 50 years and would say I am an intermediate sus. I am very torn between these 2 boards. Right now I usually ride a 10'6 Da beachboy C-4 or sometimes a custom local board 10'3 x 34 I am looking to go down in size and get a board that turns bit more easily. I Love the c-4 and rode it in a heavy chop today . I don't want to go as short as I could probably go because hell I am 62 and just want to ride waves.While I could go shorter I feel like this is really good length for me I am thinking of going LTD for the all wave to keep the weight down.

I can't find either around here to demo.

Has anyone ridden both of these boards ? What can you tell me ? And if not both of these maybe shorter versions of both. What did you like and why? What didn't you like and why? me.

If you can get a good enough deal on the LTD from JimK... go for it, but for my money, I stick to the HRS since the weight difference on the 8'10's is only 2 lbs.
Not sure what the difference is on the larger ones

I also had the 9'6 and the 9'10.
Big difference when you jump up to the 9'10
IMO the 9'6 surfed a LOT better... and it was plenty of board when I weighed 250 lbs (113 kg)

My buddy owns the JL Kwad (smaller) and absolutely loves it.... bought another for his island retreat, where he has a private surf break... and he's a ripper.
I have never surfed it, so I can't compare the two.

I have the 2015 9.5 LTD allwave, about your weight and 10 years younger, great board and it got even better with quad fins over the HRS.
Im now deciding between the 2016 allwave in either 9.0 or 9.4 as my next board as soon as I sell the 9.5

PS, do you have a brother called Wang ?

I have an old 8'7" JL Kwad that I use for smaller days. It's a stable board, can't fault the construction on the JLs. Solid. Due to the wider nose I find I can run up the nose but it still turns on a rail really nicely.... not fantastic in really hollow conditions... but then that just might be me.

The the JLs are thinner and rails less boxy than the Allwaves judging by what I've seen, which is good thing in my opinion. I've found the JLs to be a light when I've compared them other brands as well.

Have a look at the 9'6 Naish Hokua x 32 it has 170 litres of stability but is still loose on the turns. They are pretty thick but shorter than the other boards you have mentioned.
