I thought I'd jump back in with an update. I've been riding the flash a lot the last month even in rubbish conditions and I'm finding it much more stable now. Still loving it especially when it's big so I'll keep it for the bigger/ steeper days. I was keen to get a hipster twin but wasn't sure on size 7'10" or 8' and ended up buying a second hand ESC slab 7'5" x 28" x 109ltrs to see how I'd go on a smaller board. The Slab rocks! It's soo lively I can throw it around like a short board, heaps of fun. I'm still keen to try out the twin but happy for now with the slab.
Now I can't help think that I probably need a longboard sup now. A mate down south just got a revolution 10' x 30" so I can't wait to have a go.
Can you ride longboards around the same volume as shorter sups or is it more about the width?

Pretty much same as what I've been thinking for a 3 board quiver. The volume will depend on your goals for the board. It seems like a lot of people value a longboard for paddling speed and covering a lot of ground in the lineup which would mean higher volume. 10 x 28 revolution?

I do like the look of the Revolution 10 x 28 also the smik hipster and style lord LB's. I ride a firewire TJ Pro longboard prone, 9' x 22 1/8 and love the feel of that. I surf it more on the back foot than classic longboard style but would still like something I could get to the nose on.

How good is the Slab 7.5 . Love it . Too much volume for my 65kg (wet) but goes so well in small and mushy waves . I use a smaller trailer fin which makes it nice and loose. My go to travel board as it's so easy to manage out of the water and built strong . Very underrated board and it's a shame they don't make it anymore. Nearly pulled the trigger on a 7 by 26 (and I should have )

I bought it because it was there and I don't have many options to demo boards, I didn't think I'd be able to ride it or even like it. Now I can't wait to get back on it, so fun and surprisingly stable (87kgs). I'm riding it as a quad (super loose and lively), what fins are you using with the small trailer? You should definitely keep an eye out for a 7 by 26, they'd be mad to stop making the Slab.

Wish it was my place . Here for a few days to escape Sydney madness. The Slab is great to travel with

Just wondering how you find the ECS paddle? My fanatic carbon 80 blade is starting to delaminate or something, letting water in (just on 1 year old). I was also interested in what you thought about the ECS MCKEE JRXXL, have you tried one?

So I borrowed a mates 10' 29" Smik Stylelord when the surf was small a few weeks ago. I was hooked straight away on the 10 footer. I surfed it a few times over that week in waves that I probably wouldn't have gone out in (smaller choppy) and had heaps of fun. I also had it out in some better waves and it really performed well. It turned nicely off the tail and was really stable for walking up the nose. The next day I had a go on an ECS noserider 10' 30". It seemed to glide nicely and just made me want to get to the nose on every wave. It didn't turn as well as the Smik but did have a large single fin. A few days later I drove down to try my mates Revolution 10' 30" and within a few waves I knew I wanted one. A week later I managed to get myself a new Revolution 10' 28" and it's sooo much fun. I've had it out in smaller choppy wave to clean overhead hollow waves and it's handled everything with ease. I could have probably gone 26"-27" wide but I'm glad I didn't, it's nice to have the extra volume for stability/comfort and it still turns on a dime. Very happy.
