Hi all

I need some advices getting a SUP board
I like a board that we can paddle and catching small waves.

I have Hobie outfitter kayaks which I take my kids fishing on the lake and general Recreation.

I'm looking for Recreation with SUP boards as well

I was looking at the SUP ATX until I discovered Hobie also make
SUP boards.. the SUP ATX (11-12") cost around $1000

and the Hobie ATR (11" - 12") is around $1600-$1700.

Is the Hobie worth the extra money? I don't mind paying for Quality if it is
worth it ... I do enjoy my Hobie kayaks a lot.

I don't use it that often...only in summers and even then maybe once a week or when on coastal holiday a week or two at a time...

I'm likely to get 2-3 of them but I will get one first and try it out ...
I got 2x outfitter ..I bought one to try out then I bought another a few months later...

The sup atx is a basic board that will do an adequate job for the price. They aren't the toughest construction but they paddle well and are cheap. The Hobies are better boards but IMO not $700 better. I believe that it would be better to find your nearest NSP dealer and squeeze a deal on a new nsp as they are not a lot dearer than an atx but are immeasurably better boards and will outlast the atx and the hobie - and perform better than both.
There are so many good boards out there and anything around the $1000 (package) is gunna be average quality, but so long as you are realistic about your expectations then you will probably be quite happy with a new package for a grand.
My honest, personal opinion is that you need to visit or speak to some big sup retailers because I believe that for somewhere between your two price ranges you could get a good quality sup that you will be very happy with - both quality and performance wise.

Roe if you buy a cheaper board expect it to be quite heavy, I learnt the hard way if you have a weekend free i would do some research and head to the coast and demo has many boards has you can, also have a look on the buy and sell section

Ok I went around and did a quick look around locally
They seem to stock three brands (all around 11' Range)
Cant see starboards around ... can someone tell me the starboard equivalent
so I can lookup on the net, they can order it in I think

Which one people recommend? I haven't start bargaining yet but I should
be able to score a discount for the purchase.

Are these sticker price reasonable? what is a reasonable price for these boards?

SUP ATX is now off the list due to durability issues people mentioned here
I like a bit of quality for my gears and I can stretch the budget to fit.
