Had a paddle with one in the flat and it paddled quite nicely. Not surf of the strength though for surfing - maybe contact angipangi or paulj via pm - they will know the surfability of the paddle for sure.
hi i have the 8" one. the shaft is reduced. very comfortable in hands and light.
pretty strong too. it flew off my car roof on the road.
i'm a 1,90 m for 70 kg beginner.
i'm pretty glad with this paddle. cheap but nice comfortable and efficient. i've try a select M, a carbon wave starboard. i prefer the naish. make a search on this forum. DJ have posted something on it. regards
I have both the paddle in the photo and one without the cutout.(normal blade) Both are realy light and I have no probs with them. The normal blade has a thicker edge so if you give it to a begginer to have a go with and they smack it on the rail of your board it wont make as much of a mark. (had it happen) and all good.
I don't think you can go wrong. Those carbon/glass are actually lighter than some of my other full carbons. The blade is a bit big for most flat water stuff but gives great power for acceleration. If you were really concerned with strength just go with the new kevlar reinforced paddle.
