Hello,,i have just got the 2018 sunova allwater faast pro 14 x 25.5 dugout board, and was not to sure as to shorten my paddle length to accommodate being lower in my centre of gravity..My last board was a 2018 starboard allstar ,,i think the sunova is about 2 or 3 inches lower in the water than the allstar,,not sure exactly..I paddle mainly in the flat and choppy conditions ,but not downwinding yet.I would appreciate if i could get any feedback on this or others that have gone from a flat deck board to a dugout and paddle adjustments.Thanks.

Travis Grant during a clinic indicated that with a NSP dugout, he uses 5" above head. If Travis can do it, we can all do it :-)
Suggest you take your paddle cut 1/2 inch try it for a while then see how it feels, then if still too long then another 1/2 inch.....
I paddle both duggout and flat deck (nothing like a big boat like the AllStar mind you) and the difference between the two is very minimal i.e. not inch for inch
BTW that is board I would not mind owning. Enjoy and post pictures of the board :-)

nice board nixon4.
paddle length is a personal thing.
As LucBenac said and also use the paddle guide with your height ratio then start cutting down as you wish.

92 kg ,I did a bit of a measurement between the sunova all water and a sic. Rs and the difference was only 3 cm between the two on the height from the bottom of the board and the standing deck,if my measuring was accurate??so I might just keep the paddle as is at the moment. When standing in a dugout it feels a lot more than 3cm though, I could be wrong, will have to measure again.

Told you 1/2 inch might just do it.

Did you try the 27 wide version board or were you prescribed with 25.5 board by the shop?
I paddle both dugout and flat deck board and use the same length paddle and I'm ok with it.

The trend is to go as short as possible. I started at 79 inch, I am at 74 inch now. Much more cadence on flat water, and lighter for the shoulders. I am 180cm. I am on a Naish Maliko 2018 which is even lower than a flat water dug out board. I have tested that back to back with an Infinity Whiplash dug out 14x23 and a Starboard Sprint 14x21 which both stand higher as my Maliko.
