Hi all ..well I've decide to purchase my first 14 footer ..never paddled one before but do have a 11 glide ..I will stick with naish ,surpise surprise .un decides on the four boards in mind .Javelin x 28 or x26 ..glide x29 x30. I guess the lighter you go the better the board ..price difference is a lot ,where I paddle there are alot of outriggers ,I can't get near them I guess I never will .only when the old dears are paddling . .I'm 96 kgs ..paddle most days ..need a fast board ..need one to keep for a long time .as I wont be paddling it that much ..if anyone paddles these boards or has any knowledge of the difference ...your input would be greatly appreciated .looking at buying..in a couple of months .
..Im .saving .. I'm thinking the lighter version ..but like the price of the glide ...

G'day Tardy,
i have the Glide 14' x 29" and love it as an all rounder. It is not as fast as the Javelin however it it excellent on downwinders and for my 90kgs it is as stable as a rock. The Glide is also really well made and just about bullet-proof. I have the carbon model and it is not as light as the Jav but it is still quite reasonable.
Good luck.

I am in exactly (although a little heavier) same boat, and was going to wait and see what the 2016 models are.

Would be great to see the glide back as a carbon

Hey Tardy,
do I remember you saying you live on the Central Coast? I have a 2014 Glide 29" you can have a paddle of. I live on the Central Coast but I'm working up the North Coast at the moment and have the board with me. If you're still looking in about 6-7 weeks I'll have it back home and you're welcome to try it.

I have the Glide GX 14 x 29 and it's a very good all rounder whether it's lake or ocean.
nice and stable for down winders Just a problem with the pilot!
I am 86 kgs.
there is one for sale at Wind Surf and Snow or a friend of mine has a Jav 14 x 28 for sale on SeaBreeze.
i am surprised DJ hasn't commented yet!

If it's open ocean and DWers I'd suggest the 14x29 Glide.. but for a faster and lighter board for both flat water and DWers I'd recomend the new 14x28 GX Jav.. As much as I love the 14x29 Glide as an alround 14' board they are only made in the heavy but cheaper GS construction.. So if price is important.. and weight is not.. The Glide would be a good choice.. But if speed and light weight is what you're after and you can afford the GX Jav that would be the best choice.. I've heard talk about Naish dropping the cheaper and heavier GS boards and only having the LE and GX boards.. Not sure if this is true or not.. but if so.. and I'm thinking the 14'x29 Glide will stay in the range.. I'm thinking that next year we might see a lighter GX 14x29 Glide.. That would be great..

Thanks for the input everyone ..glad to here they are good boards ...
im am leaning more toward the javelin GX x28 ..as the glides are heavy @16 and 16.8 Kgs ..I have a 4WD wagon and its pretty high to swing it on the roof . There probably will be less swearing and cursing throwing it on the roof .
so I think the javelin even though alot more expensive ,will be the better option .@ 12.8 kg .I reckon I 'll only buy one .so go for gold .
great vid as usual DJ.thank you .looks like fun down winding ..my 11 glide is ok but the 14' looks like it fly's.
The shape of the 2015 naish 14 footers looks as high tech as you can get .great looking board I'm impressed .
i hope I can over take a outrigger . I'm really looking forward to getting into this part of SUPPING
i like waves but sometimes its good to just go for a bloody good long paddle .with speed . .
I did watch the vid of you when you lost your board not wearing a leg rope DJ ..lucky there had a beach there and not open ocean .I'd be crapping myself with the wild life we have in the water here in open ocean .without a board.
thanks guys .

I hope Naish brings back GX version of 14x29 Glide. Last August I was about to order one when I discovered for 2015 only the GS version was available.
What a disappointment!
I've been looking for it 2nd hand in Spain and France and no luck

As you say, on the water and downwind the extra kilos don't care, but the GS it's 16 kilos!! I have a long walk to water and a difficult access board rack in my garage
Plus in flatwater (the reason I want to complement my old 14 Glide V2 with 14x29, besides extra stability for big days) this extra kilos should care, shouldn't it?

I hope this customer feedback reaches Naish (I see I am not the only one)

Cheers!

Yeah I think Naish had a brain fart with that board for 2015. I wanted a GX 14x29 as well in 2013-4 but they were sold out in Europe, but there were plenty of GS ones left at the end of the season. So what do they do for 2015? Scrap the one that everyone wanted (the GX) but couldn't get, and keep the GS model which no-one wanted and didn't sell, because it's ridiculously heavy. Doh!

Here's a radical notion for all brands, not just Naish: If you manage to chance upon a design that works, and a board that people want, then DON'T scrap it. Keep selling it (maybe with slight refreshing each year) for as long as the demand is there, and THEN stop. Thank you!

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
They did keep the 11.4 Nalu
and I'm glad they brought out the new Hokua x32 9.6
I hope for your guys sake the 14 x 29 comes back
I'll talk to them .
but yes 16 kgs is to heavy for me to want one ..and 29 wide sound better than 28 .
i would go 30 if they had it .in a lighter construction .Ive got big feet .
on the other hand $1899 is a good price for a 14 footer .which some people are very happy with .
and there's some strong guys out there .16 kg is nothing to them .
