Hey folks, having done away with my race and tourer boards as I miss the surf shape when flat water paddling. I wondered if a JL BnB 9'9 x 30" 137L (used one for sale) would serve as a cruiser /allround/ training board, with the not to insignificant benefit of hanging 10 when conditions are right. Not sure if it will paddle a bit slow but the 137L (my 75kgs) will give it loads of float way more than my other boards. Anyone had one or has any input?

Ianinca I had that board, and it was very slow to paddle, keeping in mind that it's the design elements in the board, super soft rails in the tail and heaps of tail rocker.... totall noserider design! All about suction and drag!!! But in the right conditions they noseride unreal! I moved mine on pretty quick,as I prefer some edge in the tail and flatter rocker of the striker ,which paddle heaps faster and noseride almost as good.At 75 kgs you are right there will be plenty of float and you may not feel as much drag / resistance,as I was 90kgs at the time. But if it's about hanging toes it's a very good design

Mate, much appreciated.. I thought it would be the case but wanted first hand knowledge. As the board needs to do 2 jobs it won't be a purchase..
Thanks..

I've got the 9'6x28" B&B and about your weight, paddles pretty fast for what it is, I pick up a shed load of waves, reckon it would be good for what you want.

I have the 9'9, it's not the fastest board to paddle, but not that bad either. (I believe the ones with the deep spoon under the nose are slow, the flat nose isn't bad) Anything of that size will feel slow coming off race/touring boards. At your weight you should be ok. If a good price I'd go for it, have some fun and sell-on if not what you need.

Yeah, I have the 10'6" and I've used it for flatwater, definitely not a speed demon, not what it's made for. It is however, absolutely my favorite board to ride, great noserider. So if you ever get into surfing small waves, it's a perfect old school, longboard noserider.

This board has the classic 60's rocker which is a lower, straighter entry rocker that allows the nose to plane up rather than getting sucked down and pearling. A smooth rocker curve going into a pronounced tail kick which holds the tail down in the wave, coupled with the 50/50 rails which also holds the board in the face of the wave to allow sustained nose rides. The outline is a classic 60's style parallel railed template with some hips in the tail for those smooth rolling turns and cutbacks.
