I know there was a discussion not too long ago re. the Atlantic Mistress. I'm just wondering if any SUP'ers have had recent experience with one? I'm asking because the Treasurer [aka the Missus] is not keen on me spending 2 grand on a new Sup. I'm after something that will catch waves easily, is very stable, and can still do a bit on waves. I'm not surfing anything overhead, in fact, with my eyes, I can barely SEE anything overhead. I'm not worried about the quality or longevity as I've spoken to a few blokes about the Atlantic brand and they all agree that, for the price, they are reasonable buys. Any info at all would be appreciated. Cheers from Jimbo
I've had a Mistress for over a year now and love it. I surf it regularly and it's performance on the wave is awesome. Step on the tail and it swings around so easy or move up the board, pick a line and gun it. I'm no expert at nose riding but it's great fun walking up the nose. I have the 28" model and it's fantastic in calm conditions but add some chop and it's fairly tippy. I wish they made the 32" model a 30". 32" is a big board. I also can't fault the construction of it either. Still looks like new except for a few paddle scrapes. I was in your situation where my wife wasn't keen on me spending thousands on a board. Stoked I bought one. Go for it. You won't regret it. Especially if you get it on sale. Just make sure to replace the standard fins.
Ive had a mistress for 6 months and she's a sweetie ! Onley get a ride a month on average as i feel the need 4 speed ! Sunova ! I keep sayin to myself before i ride her that she probably needs a stiffer tail ! I am not unhappy
I have had the Mistress for about 12 months. Really enjoy riding it, I have large single fin set up and still find it manovers well. I would also say that you won't be disappointed, both in quality and performance. Only thing I would say is she does carry a bit of weight. Fine in the water, but you wouldn't want to carry too far!
I have had one since august 2017. It is my go to board when I don't feel like riding my Flash 8'0. It has been out and performs well in all conditions and size waves.
I run a set of Shapers Jackson Close thruster fins and it is set up for performance style more than traditional longboarding. In saying that you can easily camp on the nose still. Very comfortable and easy to ride and great glide generated.
Only thing I could pick would be it has faded slightly as mine was the original prototype I bought of Tim from SBW.
Thanks for all the info. Sounds like it might be my next plank. If I could demo one it would be great. Anyone know if there are demos anywhere between the far south coast of NSW and the gold coast in Qld?
